On 22 November 2021, the Official Journal of the European Union published Commission Regulation (EU) 2021/2030 adding an entry 76 in Annex XVII of REACH Regulation (EC) No 1907/2006 for restriction on N,N-dimethylformamide (DMFa). This Regulation shall enter into force on the twentieth day following that of its publication in the Official Journal of the European Union.

In Annex XVII to Regulation (EC) No 1907/2006, the following entry is added:

N,N-dimethylformamide (DMFa) is a colorless, fishy smelling liquid which is miscible with water and many other organic solvents. It is a solvent commonly used in the production of polyurethane coated materials such as synthetic leathers. It can also be used to process coatings, adhesives, plastics, acrylic fibers, PU resins, or as a cleaning solvent.
